Default Escort Redline question???

Blinder Guy had mentioned too many issues with the escort redline. Could anyone elaborate on this further. My friend is thinking about getting one needs advice.

I have heard from alot of people that the RedLine is still shipping with some bugs. Escort's official stance seems to be, a few of the early ones had a slight software issue, and if you notice any issues send it back and we will look at it.

I personally think they know there is a issue and they have a fix that just hasn't been applied yet to the already manufactured ones. I would wait a few months, or if you buy one immediately send it back to them and say it's acting funny and they will apply the firmware fix. This is just my personal opinion based on some of the stuff other enthusiasts have told me.

I think this is pretty much how belscort operates, if you're willing to buy and not speak up it doesn't effect their profits. If you do notice and actually care, go ahead and send it back.

It isn't a bad unit as I have been testing it recently. The speaker(s) could be louder, but it does a great job at detecting radar. I have noticed it picking up some false alarms that I never knew existed before.

Do you have one of the speakers that came with the STi, I would hook that up to Redline I bet it would be alot louder. Mine seems loud enough but when it's turned all the way up it sounds scratchy like a blown car speaker.

I do have one of those speakers but it won't work in my current setup. I'll figure something out.

The first Redline I tested just flat out sucked...I also got a service required message 3 weeks after owning so I exchanged it. The next unit I got was great. In my opinion it had better off axis detection than any V1 I have had...I sold my Redline but will be getting another to go along with my V1.

Thumbs up

I have noticed the Redline picks up "some" falses that the V1 misses. But sometimes when I go past that same false that the Redline picked up earlier, it can miss the false alarm. But I did get slammed w/ I/O 35.5 ka band the other day, and the Redline ate up every ounce of that radar. The Redline is a workhorse! I still have to do a comparison between the Redline, STi, and V1 3.872.

Compared to the 3.872 I think the Redline is better. Mainly with off axis and 35.5...I did not compare the STi Driver.

I will still be testing the 3.872,Bel STi, and Redline to see what kind of results I come up w/. Off axis 35.5, I haven't had a save against off axis 35.5 w/ the Redline yet but I have w/ the Bel STi which does great. 35.5 detection from the rear I notice the V1 seems to hold the signal the longest. Interesting differences!
