Blinder Update Process

Did Blinder just released a 2.9US version update on 3/23/2009 or that update is for the international version?

How do you do a direct update without removing the CPU?

My install has the usb connect so that I can access it directly in the car with my laptop

Uplug the power and heads from cpu and plug into laptop. Then do the update.

Doing this on a MAC using VMWare

Do I just plug into the internet from the laptop then or do I need any special tools such as I had to get for my Escort 9500ci updates?

Blinder does not support MAC. Never has. Why I don't know. You think they would with how popular it is.

This would be using VMWare with emulates a PC....just like it does for Escort as they don't support Mac either

If you don't need power then you should be able to bring the CPU box into the house and plug it into the desktop for the update, correct?

Correct. That is how I did it.

Blinder Denmark has noticed some people posting on different forums the incorrect way to update your Blinder. If it is not done exactly as stated below the Blinder will have problems jamming or will not jam at all.


BLINDER guide: firmware Reset programming & firmware Update programming:


Reset process / Programming:
1. Set the mode switch to position 0 for Off.
2. Remove the CPU from vehicle

3. Connect the CPU to the PC.
4. Highlight “2.2.USA Repair” firmware in the menu on the left.
5. Click at the button” Update CPU firmware” (Wait then until the CPU is fully programmed)

6. Return to vehicle.

7. Connect all wires to the correct ports on the CPU.
8. Set the mode switch to either position I or II for ON. (Wait until all programming cycles indicated by fast beeping/flashing stops).
9. Set the mode switch to position 0 for Off.
10. Remove the CPU from vehicle.


Firmware Update Process / Programming:
11. Connect the CPU to the PC.
12. Highlight "2.6 USA" firmware in the menu on the left.
13. Click at the button” Update CPU firmware “ (Wait then until the CPU is fully programmed)
14. Select “Jamming time” / "Alarm time after jamming" / “Parksensor ports” (Active for parking function)
15. Click "Save CPU settings."

16. Return to vehicle.

17. Connect all wires to the correct ports on the CPU.
18. Set mode switch to position either I or II. (Wait then until all programming cycles indicated by fast beeping and flashing stops).
19. Set mode switch to position 0 for off.
20. Set mode switch to position II, and you get two beeps followed by solid green light, to indicate our reset and update programming was successfully.
