.....here's the rest......
These are after spraying it with textured flat black. You will notice some pics that I have highlighted certain areas. These are the areas I missed with the textured flat black paint. You can clearly see a difference. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll try to get some better pictures later on. My digicam's white balance was freaking out in the direct sunlight. And bear in mind that all these pics were taken with the sun right behind/over me. So it is about the most direct reflection of light that I could get and it still looks much more flat than the regular surface of the car. I'm very pleased with just how rough this texture is. I will do a good job in scattering light. And the cured product is very light. Only 2.89lbs per gallon. I used 1 pint or was it 1 quart? Anyways, that small can was more than enough for 2 coats on the front nose clip and the entire rear surface of the car. Herculiner (pint or quart) = $30 Paint roller kit = $7 Gloves (latex dishwashing) = $3 Total $40 +/- a couple $$ ---------- Post added at 08:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:41 PM ---------- OK...here are 2 more pics now that the sun has gone over the horizon and the lighting is more indirect. You can now really see the difference in reflectivity of the nose clip. ![]()

You were pretty stealth to begin with, but you are definitely blacked out on the nose.
I would suggest ditching those fog lights for a small pair as they may become a little to inviting as a reflective surface. Hey JEM58....want to have some fun on the front of that Jeep of yours?!!!

Yeah the fog lights are gonna get a treatment with VEIL. I knew they would be a possible issue, so I mounted them as close to the centerline / License plate as I could so they would be in the "detection window" of my LE-10. I may ditch the fogs all together though. The other problem is the headlights. The lights are perpendicular to the ground & parallel to the LEO/Lidar so they make a good target. But the clear aftermarket covers that I put on are at a 45deg angle which will aid in reflecting light in a direction that is not right back at the Lidar. But again those headlight covers will get a good coating of Veil.
---------- Post added at 09:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:51 AM ---------- Also you will notice that I have captured and installed a small Black Hole / Singularity on my license plate. It works great for absorbing light, but it's really hard on the gas mileage. And don't even get me started on all the small animals and children that it has swallowed up. |
